November with the Nuss Family

It's crazy to think about, but November is almost over, and on Thursday, we will have been in Germany for three full months! Classes for Eric are going well, everyone's German is improving, and we received our residence permit cards!

On the 12th, we took a day trip south to Alsbach for the "Wintermärschen auf Schloss Alsbach," where we hiked up the mountain to the castle built in 1235. The festival took us back in time to the Middle Ages with games, food, sword fighting, and a bounce house! (So maybe it wasn't ALL medieval) Curtis and Samuel climbed up the extremely high tower and got to enjoy the view of the region surrounding Darmstadt.

On the 17th and 18th, we traveled north to The Netherlands and visited Efteling, a fairytale themed amusement park that predates Disneyland by 3 years. The park was amazing! Fairytales were brought to life, there were rides for the whole family, and we even got to stay at a hotel on the park! It was a really great weekend for us, but the boys especially had a blast!

On Thanksgiving, we got to celebrate with the other American couple at the Hochschule, who are from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. We had delicious food and enjoyed time together with friends and bringing a slice of home to Germany.

We are so thankful for our friends, family, and the chance to study and live in Germany. But most of all, we give thanks that the Lord has taken away all our sins, and through His death and resurrection, we have eternal life. Now as December approaches, we turn our hearts and minds to Christ's Advents: when He came to us as a humble infant in Bethlehem, as He still comes to us through His body and blood in the Lord's Supper, and when He will come again on the Last Day to bring everything into fulfillment.

On one last note--we got our first day of snow in Germany today!
