A Happy Start to 2024
We kicked off the New Year with a fun firework celebration on the campus of the Hochschule with our friends. Curtis and Samuel love helping with fireworks, and even Johnathan got to hold a sparkler! And after the boys went to sleep, we got to watch all the mountainside around Oberursel light up in tons of amazing fireworks! We also watched "Dinner for One" and "Tratsch im Treppenhaus," which are German traditions to watch on New Year's Eve.
Classes for Eric started back on January 8, and since then, he has given a presentation for one of his classes. He also attended the Winter Convention of the SELK Students, where Bishop Voigt, the Bishop of the SELK, and Parish-Deacon Löhde spoke. This convention provided Eric the opportunity to learn more about the SELK and develop a better understanding of our sister synod's views on the Office of the Holy Ministry.
Oberursel received more snow this month! And our family always enjoys having snow days with snowball fights and "ice-skating" in the woods.
To cap off January, we had an awesome birthday celebration for Susan in Brussels! Brussels is a beautiful city, with a ton to explore. We visited the Parlament building, the King's palace, St. Michael's Cathedral, the Palace of Justice, and so many other interesting places! We had a delicious meal at Bossa Nova Brazilian Steakhouse, fantastic Belgian waffles from Manneken Pis Waffles, and tasty tradition Belgian frittes. It was definitely a great way to celebrate such a wonderful wife and mother!
